Search DeKalb County Traffic Records
Indiana MyCase is the online court-record path for DeKalb County traffic court records. The Case tab is the best match when the citation number is known, because the traffic search-field inventory lists Citation Number as the exact traffic-ticket field. A person can also search by case number or cross reference when those are known. The Court dropdown should be narrowed to DeKalb County for county trial-court traffic cases or to DeKalb County - Butler City Court when the citation was filed in the city court channel.
MyCase is useful for public case information, but it is not a certified court record. Traffic court users should confirm the court, status, payment or appearance requirement, and disposition before treating a result as complete. If the driver needs a certified traffic court record, the copy comes from the Clerk of Courts using the clerk copy request process. If the question is license status, points, convictions, suspensions, or disqualifications, the Indiana BMV driver record is the separate channel.
- Open Indiana MyCase and choose the Case search mode.
- Enter the citation number first when it is available, since that is the most direct ticket field.

DeKalb Traffic Court Channels
Traffic court in DeKalb County is split by case type and issuing court. The local rules say DeKalb Superior Court I exclusively receives OV cases based on moving traffic violations and specialized driving privileges filed as MI cases. DeKalb Superior Court II exclusively receives IF cases. Other OV cases rotate between Superior I and Superior II. Butler City Court is a separate lower-court channel, and it appears in MyCase under its own DeKalb County - Butler City Court option.

DeKalb Traffic Search Fields
The traffic-specific MyCase fields are narrower than a broad name search. Citation Number is the best field for a ticket search because it connects to the citation itself. Case Number helps after a court case number is known. Cross Reference can catch a related number when it appears in the record. Court selection is important because DeKalb County and Butler City Court can be searched separately.

A DeKalb County traffic court record is the court-side file for the citation or traffic case. It may not show the full driver-history impact, and it is not the same as a crash report. Public case data can include the citation number, case number, charge or statute, court, filing date, hearings, disposition, fines and costs, warrants, or failure-to-appear events if those events were filed and are public.

The BMV screen is relevant because a court citation can affect the driver record, but the BMV record remains a state file separate from the court docket.
Pay or Contest DeKalb Tickets
The Clerk page links online payment of fees and lists the Traffic Division at 260-925-4576. A driver should first search the citation in MyCase by citation number, then confirm the court and the payment or appearance requirement. If the citation is in Butler City Court, use Butler City Court at 120 West Main Street, Butler, or phone 260-868-2441. A payment route for a county case may not apply to a Butler City Court case.

- Check whether the case is open, closed, payable, or set for a hearing.

- To contest the citation, follow the court's hearing process instead of paying as though the matter is uncontested.
- After payment, hearing, or disposition, use MyCase or clerk copies to confirm the court record reflects the result.
Note: Failure to appear can create a bench warrant, so missed traffic hearings should be checked through MyCase and sheriff warrant channels.
Court vs Driver Records
The most common traffic-record mistake is mixing the court traffic record with the state driver record. The court traffic record is the case file. It shows what was filed in court and how the court handled it. The Indiana BMV driver record is a license-history file. It can show driver status, points, convictions, suspensions, disqualifications, and remarks, depending on the product and access rules.

DeKalb Traffic Record Fees
Traffic court records can involve three different fee sets. Clerk copies use the court-copy fees stated on the DeKalb County Clerk request form. Driver records use the BMV online record fee. Crash reports are not traffic court records, and the sheriff records page uses its own police-report and state-crash-report pricing. Keeping those records separate helps avoid paying the wrong office for the wrong file.

That source is included because crash reports and police reports are often confused with traffic court files, even though the sheriff records division handles them separately.
DeKalb Traffic Public Access
Traffic court records are court records, so Indiana court-record access rules apply. Indiana Administrative Rule 9 addresses public access at the courthouse and remote electronic access as allowed by the court. Access to Court Records Rule 5 excludes certain data and records from public access. The Access to Public Records Act under IC 5-14-3 may matter for public agency records, but court records have their own court-record rules.
Some traffic matters can also have criminal or restricted parts. A DUI/DWI or operating-while-intoxicated case is not just a routine ticket record. It may route into a criminal case path, with charges, bond, hearings, disposition, and sentencing entries. Juvenile matters, sealed or expunged records, Social Security numbers, financial account data, and protected minor information should not be treated as ordinary open traffic records. For DUI or other criminal traffic outcomes, the full case file belongs with the DeKalb County criminal court records path.
Access note: MyCase public traffic results can identify a case, but certified copies still come from the Clerk of Courts.
Crash and Appeal Records
A crash report is not the same thing as a traffic citation record. The research points users to BuyCrash or the sheriff records division for crash reports. The sheriff records page says state crash reports may not be available for three to five days after a crash while completed and reviewed. Those records can support insurance or incident review, but they do not replace the court file if a citation was filed.

The federal appeals source is separate from local traffic tickets. It is useful only as a boundary marker: ordinary DeKalb traffic citations are local or state-court matters unless a separate federal case exists.
DeKalb Traffic Special Issues
Commercial driver issues and specialized driving privileges need careful routing. The local rules specifically place specialized driving privileges filed as MI cases in Superior Court I. The BMV driver record can show suspensions, disqualifications, convictions, current points, license status, and remarks, so a CDL holder or suspended driver may need both the court record and the BMV record to understand the full status. The research did not locate DeKalb-specific defensive-driving, deferral, or photo-enforcement program rules, so those topics should be confirmed with the court or clerk rather than assumed.
Expungement or sealing can also affect traffic-related criminal records. DeKalb local rules say XP expungement cases are filed in the court with the underlying criminal case. If multiple cases are involved, the highest offense level controls, and if cases share that level, the most recent highest-level case controls. That local filing rule does not create eligibility by itself. Indiana expungement law controls eligibility, and the court order controls the public-access effect.
